Why do I need a Dropbox Account?

Cognie uses an external cloud storage service to store your notes, web page articles, and other information.

Cognie is integrated with Dropbox to serve as a storage engine.  By using your existing cloud storage service, all your information is stored in one place, and not worry about losing your hard work.

Cognie uses a Scoped App permission to access your Dropbox storage. Scoped app permission grants access to the files stored by Cognie under the apps folder and cannot access or modify any files outside of this folder.

During the signup process, Dropbox grants a token associated with your account to Cognie to access the app folder. Cognie manages the structure and content of the storage and presents you with the data when you access any articles and information stored in Cognie.

And during sign-in using Dropbox, Dropbox shares an access token with Cognie which is used to identify and access the service.

Using your own existing storage service provides a way to unify all your files, data, and other information in one cloud storage service rather than be scattered into multiple places. Cognie provides a way to capture and organize and find them when needed.
