Using browser extension

Cognie browser extension can be used to capture information found on the web directly from the web browser. Cogniebrowser extension supports multiple ways to capture web pages and other resources from the web.

  1. Clip Article:  captures any web page in a simplified and clutter-free format without any ads, image banners, and other information that are not part of the main article. This provides a distraction-free reading experience, focusing on the content with a customized and unified text style.
  2. Capture Screenshot: captures the visible part of the screen as an image
  3. Save Full Page: Save full page feature saves the complete web page in its original format with all its associated resources. This allows you to have your own copy of the page forever, even if the original page is lost or the site disappears.
  4. Bookmark Page: Save the site information and captures an excerpt of the page, and don't capture any content from the URL.

Cognie browser extension uses the HTML content from the web page and not from the remote site, so if you modify the content using Browser Developer Tools to remove any unwanted content, those changes will be reflected in the article saved in Cognie.

To save any embedded images and other multimedia resources on the web page, Cognie tries to download them from the server. This may affect if the website is behind a firewall or a private network.

If the web page is an image or an Adobe Acrobat PDF file, both Clip Article and Save Full Page will save the images and PDF files. The same applies to any other resource displayed in the browser.
